It’s a Poverty Problem not a Parenting Problem with Sarah Winograd

In this episode, Elliott and Tecoria have a conversation with Sarah Winograd who is the Co-Executive Director of Together with Families. Together with Families is a new organization in Georgia that works with families at risk of CPS involvement and their children being removed and placed in foster care. They work with families to help them meet their needs as they define them for themselves with the goal of keeping families together. In this conversation, you are going to learn about what differentiates their organization from others, how they build trust with the parents they serve, what it takes to build an organization from the ground up with families, and why Sarah is such a passionate advocate for justice for families. Sarah is also a masterful storyteller and begins the conversation with a story of how a few thousand dollars and the right approach can prevent a family from experiencing the trauma of being separated by foster care.

In addition to our site partners across the country, the following people and organizations have come together to show that it is possible to fundamentally rethink how America protects children and supports families.
